This Privacy Policy applies to residents of California, where akiWatt currently and solely operates, and describes how we collect, use, and share your Personal Information, including your rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). This policy is established to ensure compliance not only with the CCPA but with all laws and regulations as set forth by regulatory agencies such as but not limited to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the California Energy Commission (CEC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

  • Internet or other similar network activity: (e.g., browsing history, search history, information on a consumer's interaction with a website, application, or advertisement).   

  • Geolocation data: (e.g., physical location or movements).   

  • Commercial information: (e.g., records of personal property, products or services purchased, obtained, or considered, or other purchasing or consuming histories or tendencies).

Sensitive Personal Information:

​akiWatt only collects sensitive personal information, as defined by the CCPA, when it is provided directly by you, and in order to perform essential business functions. Sensitive personal information includes:

  • Banking or other financial information you provide to us in order to execute business transactions (payments, orders, subscriptions, etc.)

  • Utility account or meter data you provide to us in order to access your energy usage information with your consent and at your direction.

 

akiWatt does not collect other types of sensitive personal information such as social security numbers, id numbers, medical records or other account information except as identified above.

 

​Energy Usage Information:

​akiWatt may receive energy usage information from third parties you authorize to share that information with us. Energy usage information includes:

  • Billing and interval meter usage information related to your energy consumption

  • Necessary identifiers that go along with this information in order to enable us to match it to your account.

akiWatt only oollects energy usage information you explicitly authorize us to collect. We treat and process energy usage information in accordance with all rules and regulations of the regulatoary agencies that have jurisdiction over your data (i.e. CPUC, CEC, FERC) as well as in accordance with the rules and regulations of any other energy company that may be providing us your data (for example your local utility company).

 

Other Publicly Available Information:

akiWatt may also collect information about you from publicly available data sources not subject to CCPA regulations, such as tax assessor records.

We use your Personal Information for the following purposes:

  • Right to Delete: You have the right to request that we delete some or all of your Personal Information. This may have an impact on our ability to provide you our products and services.

  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale: akiWatt does not sell personal information. Therefore an opt out of sale is not needed. If in the future akiwatt sells personal information, we will update this policy, and provide the necessary opt out methods.   

  • Right to Non-Discrimination: You have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your CCPA rights.
